Something that has annoyed me lately is that right now, in this economic climate, these online competitions are working ( that is viral marketing ) hard to get artists to pay between $25 -$50 to enter a competition where there is a one percent chance of them being exhibited. Is that offensive or is it just me?
I have gotten about 6 emails in the last two days from two organizations to do this. That is not including the ones that hit my junk box. Yipes! They sound desperate.
Not that I haven't entered these things before, but really kids, unless the juror was a guest lecturer at your school, or one of your teachers, just save your money and make art. Or go buy yourself a sandwich.
