pssh, don't get hung up on it. Who needs spanish painting? John McCain wouldn't even sit down and talk with Spanish government-types anyway. I dare you, name one good painting by Velásquez.
Only a "good" painting? Okay, hmmm... the Needlewoman at the NGA. A "great" Velazquez would of course be Las Meninas. I think the Spanish made the most mysterious paintings in the West. Cotan!?
McCain isn't a suitable barometer for anything. But I would understand his reservation about speaking with the Spanish. They would totally ridicule his inability to roll his R's.
